# Why Your Synchrony Card Activation Fails (and How to Fix It)

Activation usually works the first time. When it doesn't, it's often one of these reasons.

## 1. A typo in your details

A wrong digit in your account number or security code is the most common cause. Type slowly and check again.

## 2. Using the wrong page for a store card

Store (retail) cards may use their own Synchrony activation page. Check the paper that came with your card.

## 3. Old browser data

Saved cookies can break forms. Clear your cache or try another browser.

## 4. Too many tries

Several failed tries can lock your account for safety. Stop and call the number on the back of your card.

## 5. A fake website
